The quietest air purifier isn't the smallest — it's the biggest
Data study · air-purifiers
We divided each purifier's AHAM-verified smoke CADR by its quietest fan speed to find which ones deliver the most clean air per decibel — the number that actually matters in a bedroom. The counterintuitive result: the biggest units run the quietest for the air they move. For pure value, see our companion ranking, [air purifiers by CADR per dollar](/lp/air-purifier-cadr-per-dollar).

Methodology
Clean air per decibel = AHAM-verified smoke CADR ÷ the purifier's quietest fan-speed sound level; higher is better. Every row pairs an AHAM-sourced CADR with a like-for-like low/sleep-speed noise figure, so the comparison stays apples-to-apples — units we only have inconsistent noise data for are held out rather than blended in. This is the noise companion to our CADR-per-dollar value ranking.
