Avoid if

High confidenceLast checkedWith the Fenix 8, Garmin folded its AMOLED Epix line into the flagship Fenix range, so you finally get a bright, always-on screen without surrendering Garmin's legendary battery life: the 47mm model runs roughly 29 days in smartwatch mode and about 48 hours with full GPS. New for this generation are a microphone and speaker for calls and voice commands, an LED flashlight, and dive features good to 40m. DC Rainmaker, TechRadar and Tom's Guide all crown it the best all-round outdoor watch on the strength of its navigation, GPS accuracy and stamina, with the usual caveats: it's expensive, it's large, and early firmware was buggy (since largely fixed). The smartwatch and app side stays basic next to Apple and Samsung, which is rather the point.
