Head-to-head

Waykar 34 vs Midea Cube 35: How Much Does Smart Cost?

Both are mid-size units for a single damp room, and about fifty dollars apart — so this matchup is really a question about what 'smart' is worth. The Waykar 34 is the budget answer: $175.99, ENERGY STAR, genuinely quiet, drain hose in the box, no app. The Midea Cube 35 adds Wi-Fi and voice control, a far larger collapsible tank, quieter operation, and more consistent real-world drying — for $229.

Verdict
Waykar
The value budget pick: $175.99 for a quiet, ENERGY STAR 34-pint with a drain hose in the box. Don't trust the 2,000 sq ft claim — testing found it best in one damp room, not a whole basement. For a bedroom, bath, or single problem corner, it's the honest floor of the category.
Midea
The middle Cube, and the value sweet spot of the smart line: the same quiet, big-tank, Wi-Fi platform sized for an average damp room, at $229 with no pump to pay for. If your drain runs downhill or you don't mind the hose, it's most of the Cube 50 for seventy dollars less.
Best for
Waykar
you want the lowest-cost quiet unit for a single damp room — a bedroom, bath, or problem corner
Midea
you want the smart Cube experience for a normal damp room and don't need to pump water uphill
Avoid if
Waykar
you need to dry a whole basement or a large, wet space
Midea
the space is wet or large (get the 50-pint), or it's a bedroom (the Cube 20 is quieter and cheaper)

Final verdict

If the budget is the point, the Waykar does the essential job and does it quietly, and our scoring still hands it the value crown. But the Cube 35 wins everything else — moisture removal, noise, efficiency, and the day-to-day convenience of a tank you empty a fraction as often. That last one is bigger than it sounds: the Waykar has the worst tank-to-capacity ratio in the category and fills in under four hours at full output. Spend the extra $53 if you want the app, the bigger tank, and drying headroom. Keep it if you just need one room kept dry on the cheap and you'll run the hose.
