Most of a premium chair's adjustability, a quarter of the price

The value play that doesn't skimp on adjustment. The Branch gives you seven-plus points of tuning, height, depth, multi-way arms, removable lumbar, for around $389. The firm seat, plastic arms, and narrow pan are the giveaways, but for WFH it's a smart buy.
A young direct-to-consumer brand's answer to the $1,500 ergonomic chair, at roughly a quarter of the price. For about $389 the Branch gives you seven to eight real points of adjustment, height, seat depth, multi-way arms, tilt, and a removable lumbar, which is far more than most chairs at this price, plus a breathable mesh back and a thick, supportive foam seat built for full workdays. The seat runs firm enough that some feel their hip bones, the armrests are hard plastic and don't lock in depth, and the seat pan is narrow, but for a highly adjustable home-office chair on a budget, it's the value play.

How we know
High confidenceLast checkedThe Branch Ergonomic Chair is the budget pick: a genuinely well-adjustable ergonomic chair from a young direct-to-consumer brand that delivers, as reviewers put it, roughly 90% of a premium chair's adjustability for around a quarter of the price. For about $389 you get seven-to-eight points of adjustment — height, seat depth, multi-way armrests, tilt, and a removable lumbar rest — well above what most chairs at this price offer. The back is breathable double-layered mesh, while the seat is a thick, 3-inch high-density foam cushion that reviewers find more supportive than the thin mesh seats on some rivals, built to stay comfortable across a full eight-hour workday. It comes in several seat and frame color combinations, ships nearly assembled, and is backed by a 7-year warranty. The honest caveats: the seat runs firm, and some testers feel their hip bones on it; the armrests are hard plastic and their depth doesn't lock in place; the tilt-tension knob is stiff and awkward to reach; the seat pan is a bit narrow; and at up to a 300 lb capacity it best fits people between about 5'2 and 6'2, so taller users may find the height limited. For a stylish, highly adjustable home-office chair on a budget, it's the value play.
