Nothing covers a giant home through thick walls quite like it, but you pay flagship-times-three for the privilege, and Orbi firmware has a long history of needing patience.
The Orbi 970 (model RBE973S in the three-pack) is what you buy when coverage is non-negotiable and budget isn't the constraint. It's a quad-band Wi-Fi 7 system rated BE27000, and the fourth band is the point: a dedicated 5 GHz lane reserved entirely for backhaul, so the traffic between your router and satellites never competes with the bands your phones and laptops are using. Netgear rates the kit for up to 10,000 square feet, and independent reviewers confirm it holds speed across large, multi-floor homes with thick walls better than almost anything else on the market. A 10 Gbps internet port and the option of a 10 Gbps wired backhaul round out a genuinely high-end package. The catch is everything around the Wi-Fi. The price is the obvious one — this kit routinely costs several times what a perfectly good flagship like the Deco BE63 asks. Beyond that, NETGEAR Armor (security) and Smart Parental Controls are subscriptions on top, the app offers surprisingly little advanced customization for the money, and Orbi's firmware has a long history of bugs that occasionally demand a reboot or a patch. If you have the house and the budget to match, nothing covers quite like it. Everyone else should look at the Orbi 770 or a tri-band rival and pocket four figures.

Dong Knows Tech and Tom's Guide both single it out for raw range and speed, crediting the quad-band design and the dedicated 5 GHz backhaul lane that keeps node-to-node traffic off the bands your devices use. In large, multi-floor homes with thick walls, it consistently holds speed at distances where smaller systems fade. The unanimous reservations are price and polish: it costs multiples of a normal flagship, its best security and parental features are subscription add-ons, and Orbi's firmware has a long, well-documented track record of needing patches and reboots. Dong in particular notes the limited Wi-Fi customization relative to the outlay. It's a coverage instrument, not a value buy.
